Abstract

How It Happened" is analysed from the feminist point of view of Sylvia. Walby’s patriarchal theory. Patriarchy and the novel are satirically depicted. traditional marriage system in Pakistani society. The article investigates the six structures of patriarchy as outlined by Sylvia Walby, to explore how family is a key site of patriarchy. In society, males are dominant through culture, marriage, sexuality and social institutions. Although the character of Dadi is a continuation of patriarchy, women themselves. The novel also points to the conflict between the old and the new generation. Discuss traditional and modern values, through characters such as Zeba who is challenging social expectations. and seeks independence. Through which device(s) does satire become an effective literary technique? the novelist reveals hypocrisy, discriminating against gender, and emotional load imposed On women in a patriarchy. It is not just a comic family story, the article concludes: Also a powerful feminist attack on patriarchal culture and traditional marriage practices. South Asia.
